Training Courses

Aircraft icing is a very niche subject, and many organisations do not have their own icing specialists. However, it can be very important for certain engineers (such as aerodynamicists and system architecture engineers) to have a basic understanding of the icing problem. AeroTex therefore offer training in this area, to help our customers have a better understanding of how to deal with the challenges that aircraft icing can pose.

Our experience across the whole sphere of the icing problem means that we are uniquely placed to provide training which covers a very wide range of icing topics. We tailor our training to each customer, modifying both the depth and breadth of the training material to cover their specific needs. Being heavily experienced in code development and application, icing wind tunnel testing, ice protection system design and certification requirements means that we can provide information on the entire icing domain.

Our courses typically include the following areas:

  • Characteristics of the Icing Atmosphere
  • Icing Physics and Mechanisms
  • Icing Weather Information
  • Methods to protect against ice accretion
  • Icing Simulation Methods
    • Numerical methods
    • Icing wind tunnel tests
    • Flight tests
  • Requirements and Means of Compliance
  • Icing Related Accidents
